After enjoying the Heart Wisdom podcast with Jack Kornfield, I was driven to learn more about his work and spiritual insight from Buddhism. His episode on Karma and Intention was fascinating. His profound ability to awaken joy and live in compassion inspired heart opening moments, that had me longing for living within my true nature.
According to Wikipedia: Buddhism is the world’s fourth-largest religion with over 520 million followers, or over 7% of the global population, known as Buddhists.
Jack Kornfield, trained as a Buddhist monk and became one of the principal teachers to introduce Buddhist mindfulness practice to the West.
Joymaster (my uber novice, but highly inspired) key points of Buddhism: You can transcend suffering, Karma is by thinking, acting and being kind, the universe returns those same things to you in the long run and (the opposite being true of course too), there are cycles to being reborn, awakened, enlightened – and with practice you can become, spiritually awake, you can live Nirvana.
A Buddha, simply means “one who is awake”. And if you are ready for enlightenment this book is for you.
The Book, Teachings of Buddha, is a treasure. It was a perfect introduction to essential Buddhist writings. These 200 pages of Buddha “truth” have been translated from the most popular Indian, Tibetan, Chinese, and Japanese sources. Among the selections are some of the earliest recorded sayings of the Buddha.
These ming and body liberating teaching, celebrating freedom, love, compassion and truth, were passed down verbally for a thousand years and then scribed, recorded, and translated to hundreds of different languages to be able to appear on these pages for your own personal enlightenment.
These soul touching messages, provide the wisdom to live with compassion without all the entanglements that often fill our thoughts and deeds.
My favorite teaching from the book is Look Within.
Soak it in JoyMasters… know the sweet joy. It is all in you friends.
The book also features guidance on practicing meditation, cultivate a calm awareness, finding the joy within and how to live with compassion. The book is teachings like above.
I spent three weeks reading thru this book. You could read it in a night, but I wanted to let the joy of each teaching swell my soul with light. It was hope in reading these teachings that are as true today as when they manifested in the heart of another 2500 years ago. Focusing in, changes the out.
Wishing you enlightened living dear friends. Be your own JoyMaster.
